The "Renaissance" design is not the common one that most plastic recorders on the market have. The "Rottenburgh" is considered the traditional and is by far the most common. The tone of the instrument is good, clear and stable with a warm ambiance. Very good quality. This is a 2 piece recorder, typical for a "Renaissance" style recorder and is very tunable. A fantastic little recorder, well balanced and nicely weighted, in my opinion very attractive for a plastic soprano. I enjoy playing it more than my Yamaha 300 series. The color is a nice "off white" sometimes called ivory trimmed in gold. A very nice recorder for the money.
