This oil was recommended/supplied when I bought my new Getzen 1060 bass trombone & pre-owned 1047 tenor trombone from The Horn Guys (formerly Ferguson's) in La Crescenta; best slide stuff I've ever used. After you wipe the slides dry, you just squeeze it on. The stuff seems a bit "creamier" than other oils and liquid creams, (which is probably why it seems to last longer & have smoother action) but I never need to use a bone bottle - even after the stuff has been on for several days - it just stays moist & slick. When it's spent, you just wipe the inner slides, squirt some more on, work it around a slide at a time, and the slide works like new for another several days of busy playing; I never have to worry about getting the right consistency - it just seems to go on right every time. (I wonder if it's got silicone in it) I've also used this stuff on a couple of students' horns that had bad slides, & I was surprised at how well this stuff got their slides working again.
It's a good idea before you use it, to use a cleaning rod wrapped in a strip of cheeze cloth or T-shirt - to get what you formerly used out of the outer slides, to get the best slide action. Also, make sure you shake the bottle before each use. (Now that I'm at the end of the bottle, it seems thinner) Once you've prepped & gotten it on your slides, you're gonna love this stuff!
