(More customer reviews)I've been using my new UMX250 for abotut a week and I have to say why did I not get this years eariler? The candy apple color is fun, it's thick (but not bulky) and I love the feel of the keys; springy with lots of distance!
The keys remind me of the Ensoniq EPS keyboard layout, which really lets you pound on them. I had a M-Audio O2 and the keys didn't have much distance and I was constantly fat-fingering keys( the mod and pitch "wheels" were lame also).
The other aspect I like about this axe is the layout. Everything just fits where it needs to be; the pitch and mod wheels are in your face, up front on the lower left, knobs and buttons are spanned across the top above the keys with the 4 knobs on the right, 4 on the left and 8 buttons in the middle. GENIUS!
The only thing that was weird is there is no power-on light, so I didn't know it was on until I pulled up a VSTi and started playing.
It's fully programmable via a couple of button clicks and key presses like most other controllers. It also came with a USB audio breakout box for low-latency recording and playback....meh.
I don't know about anyone else, but this controller has filled my niche.
